My gym membership recently expired and I decided not to renew it. Without a membership, I have been working out at home. I get a well-balanced mix of exercises including: pushups, pullups, dips, and situps. It would be nice to have a way to automatically track not only the sets and reps of these workouts, but to measure how well and hard I am doing them. My colleague and I have decided to solve that problem and have started work on an Android app that will automatically track and measure metrics of these exercises. It will make heavy use of the accelerometer to give detailed feedback on exercises.
Here are some highlights of the functionality of the app:
– Measures detailed data about pushups, situps, and pullups
– Records and stores data on the device or the cloud
– Get useful feedback and progress charts on amount and effectiveness of workouts
We are hard at work on this app, and I will keep you posted on our progress.
